John Morrison merchant of St Andrews, pursues George Home exise officer of Dundee, and John Ross exise officer at Kirriemuir. When the two were working at St Andrews, they seized 11 hogsheads of wine belonging to Morrison, which he had had transported in the boat of John Paton, from Anstruther. The wine had a clearance from the Anstruther Customs House.

Robert Robertson snr, provost of Perth, pursues William Rannie saltmaker at Cuthellhilll saltpans, Aberdour, and his father-in-law James Wilson, tacksman of the said saltpans. The case involves salt which should have been shipped on the bark 'John' of Dundee, master James Crighton. Part of the salt was in payment for timber, and the rest was to be sold at Newcastle or London. The Precept contains a very detailed account of the negotiations and of the correspondence concerning the transaction.

Alexander Bower shipmaster of Dundee was employed by Alexander Arbuthnot baillie of Edinburgh, as master of the ship he had freighted, 'Gloucester' of Dundee, after her master David Duncan shipmaster of Dundee, was lost at sea. He plied a voyage from Burlington to Lisbon with grain (loaded at Berwick) and then to Tain. He is pursuing John Duncan, son and heir of the late David, for reimbursement of the expenses of the voyage. Several other creditors are also pursuing Duncans's heirs

As he had to complete a voyage in his current command, he recommended that the repairs be halted until his return. The ship was carried off the stocks on a high tide and damged beyond repair. Ferguson claims that Lamy should contribute to the expenses

John Auld merchant of St Andrews, pursues Robert Wardroper master of the 'Grizel' of Dundee. Auld freighted the ship to go to Newcastle for coal for sale at Rotterdam by John Davidson, Auld's factor there. Wardroper took in salt for another freighter at Newcastle, and was subsequently late arriving at Rotterdam. He should pay Auld the freight earned for the salt plus damages for loss of the market for coal. A letter from Davidson (1742) states, 'It's said the privateer at Helvoet which brought in the prizes there last summer is fitting out again.' Wardroper's cautioner is David Kirkcaldy merchant of Dundee
