The Memorial in the Dundee Garden of Remembrance

This memorial was placed in front of the Dundee City Churches by the City of Dundee Ex-Services Association and it is they who maintain its upkeep and repair.

War Memorial

In the 1980's Alistair Mahaddy who was at that time the secretary/piper to the City of Dundee Combined Ex-services Association asked Bruce Kelly, who was the Council Officer, if he could assist the Association regarding a site for a ‘Garden of Remembrance’ – This request was put into the office of the then Lord Provost.

Permission was granted to establish this in front of the City Churches. Andrew Child (the Parks Director, the Sponsors) gave the Combined Ex-services Association a lot of advice regarding a special stone, the transportation and the laying of it.

In many ways the Combined Ex-services Association were very indebted to them for all their endless efforts to assist us without financial assistance.

Thanks to Bruce Kelly former Council Officer for this information
