Transcription of the testament of John Hutcheon alias Hamilton, of Veere,
son of John Hamilton, sometime provost of Arbroath and later in Campvere,
recorded in the registers of Edinburgh Commissary Court, 20 January 1775,

The Test[ament] dative & Inv[entar]y of the Goods and Gear which pertained & belonged to umq[uhi]ll John Hutcheon alias Hamilton of Campvere lawful Son of the also decease John Hamilton alias Hutcheon sometime Provost in Arbroath thereafter in Bourdeaux in France and last in Campvere at the time of his decease who deceased here the [-] day of 177[-] Years faithfully made and given up by Ann hutcheon Relict of John Gillespie Mariner in Arbroath and by John Lindsay Shoemaker in Dundee husb[an]d to and as having best knowledge in name and behalf of Barbara Hutcheon his spouse which Ann and Barbara Hutcheons are only lawful Children now in Life of David Hutcheon Indweller in Arbroath who was Brother German of the s[ai]d umq[uhi]ll John Hutcheon alias Hamilton Jun[io]r [Niees] of the s[ai]d Defunct and only Exe[cuto]rs dative qua nearest in kin dec[erne]d to him and That by Dec[ree] of the Comm[issars] of Ed[inbu]r[gh] as the same dated 21 Dec[embe]r 1774 in itself at more length proports

Follows the Inventary In the first the said umq[uhi]ll John Hutcheon alias Hamilton had pert[ainin]g and belonging to him at the time of the decease fors[ai]d the Goods and Gear aftermen[tione]d viz. one hundred and ninety three Guilders ten Stivers Dutch money being the neat proceeds of a home which belonged to the s[ai]d Defunct in Campvere which proceeds is still in the hands of Mr Stewart British Conservator Depute at Campvere by whom the spouse was sold It[em] 300 Guilders being the equal half of 600 Guilders Dutch money being the neat proceeds of the moveable effects which belonged to the s[ai]d Defunct and sold by Mr Stewart and which Sum is likewise in the hands of Mr Stewart Ext[endin]g the s[ai]d 193 Guilders & 300 Guilders in Ster[lin]g money to fourty five poundsfour shillings and eight pence which in Scots money is five hundred and fourty two pounds Sixteen Shillings Scots
