Sr. – I have the favour of yours of the 17th, the recept whereof I would have acknowledged sooner, but was in expectation. Mr Stewart the gentleman you mention, would have call’d upon me, for I did not know where to meet with him; but I received a letter yesterday from one Mr Walkden of Gray's Inn, acquainting me Mr Stewart is not yet arrived from Holland, but as he waited only for a fair wind he was expected every minut, and upon his arrival would call of me; I give yow therefor the trouble of this, that so nothing may be imputed to me for not giving yow and earlier answer to your letter. Whenever I have the pleasure of meeting Mr Stewart I will take care in concert wt. him to prepare a propper memorial agreeable to the facts he will furnish me with, and pursue the several other directions the committee of the royal burrows are pleased to give, and shall take the first opportunity if acquainting yow with the steps that shall be taken.

I am, sr., your most humble servant, Sic subscribitur, Will. Hamilton.
