The Trade between Dundee and Veere

The which day the preses laid before the committee a letter which he had received from the most honble. John, Marquiss of Tweddale, on of his Majestie’s prinle. secretarys of state, in answer to the committee’s letter of 17th November last. Which being read, the committee appoint the same to be recorded in the burrow books, and of which the tenor follows: -
Whitehall, 26th January 1744/5
Sr. – I received yours of the 17th November, wrote by order and in name of the annual committee of the royal burrows, desireing my countenance and concurrance for a fixt and regular convoy for the trade of Scotland to the Netherlands; yow likewise acquainted me that Mr William Hamilton, agent for the royal burrows at London, was directed to wait upon me and lay before me the state of the trade, with a coppy and application intended to be made to the lords commissioners of the admiralty. Last Thursday, and no sooner, Mr Charles Stewart, deputy conservator gave me a coppy of the petition to the lords of the admiralty, which I desired might forthwith presented, and I have already recommended it to the Duke of Bedford, nor doe I make the least doubt but the lords of the admiralty will doe all that is in their power for answering the desire of the petition.
I hope I need not assure yow that I shall be glad of every opportunity to make use of any influence I may happen to have towards procuring safety and protection to the trade of Scotland. – I am, with great regard, sr., your most humble servant,
Sic subscribitur
Tweddale.
